I've been trying to figure out what to do about a review of Round for a while. The food is great - when you get it - and if they have what your ordered.
They desperately need a good expeditor - and they need to keep the menu up to date. So many times someone in our group has ordered something only to be told they don't have it. It can't be that they ran out - we're ordering within half an hour of the place opening. Twice I've been told they forget to get the olives. Well, they're supposed to be house-marinated so they must have forgotten long enough ago that they should be off the menu.
A couple of times they haven't told us something wasn't available til all the available food has been served. ok, that's just bad. Four people order food, are given their little number stands and sit down. Three meals come to the table and the server goes "ohhhh we don't have whatever".
The olives are great when they have them. The cheese plate/sampler/whatever is great when they have it. The chicken is good when it's available (twice now the chicken has arrived a good half hour after everyone else got their food). The poutinette is very good.
Seriously - this place needs a good expeditor. Someone to help the front of house communicate with the kitchen.
Always fun house drinks and good drafts. I like that they've always (so far) had Batch 1904 cider available.
Interesting events happen here.
This place could be fantastic. They've got a really good guy in the kitchen. He knows what he's doing. He needs a better front of house team.
ohhh one other thing - they need to work on their climate control system. It gets stinking sweaty hot in there really easily.

edit - and don't you know - the day after I wrote this, friends went for a dinner/show and were told the kitchen was closed tonight
