There comes a point in every vacation where you decide if you want to splurge on a place to stay, splurge on events, or both...
We chose to get the top dollar seats for our hockey game and UFC match and cut on the hotel...leading us to Vacation Inn, which was a steal ($60/day on a holiday weekend...plus discounts from Orbitz).
First day we arrive, we notice the hallway looks a LOT like a dorm. Going inside, it does smell like dirty water with the most retro microwave I've ever seen and a dented fridge. The walls and doors have chipped paint. The iron holder is rusty. The bed was stiff and the sheets made me itchy.
The people staying here don't exactly scream approachable either. There were different brands of sample conditioner and body lotion...and there was no shampoo. Not a huge deal since we pack our own shampoo/conditioner anyway. Also the coffee maker was located on the sink by the toilet. Just weird.
Another issue is on the second day of our stay, our key didn't work so we had to get it reactivated. The internet is also super slow and kept disconnecting on us.
Overall, it's not a bad place for the price, but it definitely is a budget hotel...so go here if you're looking for the best savings and don't mind not having the amenities of most hotels.
