  • Currently restoring this house's small yard to native habitat. Stumbled upon Valley Verde, too, heading to CostCo gas pumps on a day both Ron & Suzanne were working together. I asked if they had Arizona (Phoenix friendly) native plants and both of their eyes lit up. I learned more about each native perennial, annual, shrub & tree than I could imagine. Get this: heat tolerant REFLECTIVE heat tolerant, summer dormant, full sun filtered through a palo verde, on which hiking trail the seeds were gathered & propagated in the nursery, how to deal with construction debris left a foot under the contractor's grade fill dirt. I would bet Ron is a tad more attentive (?) to his property and Susanne is more freeform, if you will. With that said, it was great to hear both sides of any desert community's landscaping design conversation. See, I removed the irrigation system at the house. I did hose drip water a few times a week to help each plant establish, right? after that...it is all nature!
