  • Let me preface this review by saying that I typically do not like to leave negative reviews. After running out of contact lens, I called this location initially trying to get an appointment on a date that had no openings. I called back the following week on veteran's day (schools were closed so they were probably busier than normal) around opening to book an afternoon appointment. No issues. The person booking the interview seemed friendly and got me in, so I was happy. I showed up 5 minutes prior to my appointment to fill out paperwork, did so, turned it in and waited. An hour lapsed and then the vision tech came out to notify me that I had missed several sections of the documentation that needed to be completed. I had neglected to complete these sections because they were on preceding pages that followed a section highlighted to read, "Skip" due to it being an area where the office staff writes info. This was my bad. I should have checked beyond the first page. Unfortunately the (3) staff at the front desk neglected to check as well. They seemed to be busy talking about their lunch breaks and when to take them. When I quickly filled the necessary information out upon getting the notification from the tech, I asked the front desk staff to please check it to ensure that I completed all necessary components so that I would not have to wait another hour before being notified again. They did, said all was well, and I sat back down. Then they moved my folder to the BACK of the queue of patients where I proceeded to wait another 2 hours before being seen. My wife asked why it was taking so long and they told her that the other patients had earlier appointments then I did. This is interesting because those same patients showed up over a half hour later than I did. The staff gave her what would be known as a 'back-handed' apology. "We've said we're sorry 4 times, what do you want?! HE didn't do the paperwork right". And this group never checked it. Great customer service... When I finally got to see the tech, she was polite, apologized for the delay, and tried to lighten the situation up. She was fine. I saw the eye doctor, then the person who sells the glasses/lens, same thing. After reading previous reviews of this location and other nationwide vision centers, I realized that the consistent complaints were towards the front desk staff. It might be their training (or lack thereof) or how they are treated by superiors (which I did not witness), but either way they more than 'paid it forward' to me. My 1:30pm appointment had me out the door after 5pm. The only reason that I even went in to this location in the first place was to update my script because the company that I normally order from said that the one on record was too old. I would have rated this place 1 star, but given the service provided by the tech, eye doctor, and lens sales person, I bumped it up to two. BTW, when my order was ready for pickup a week later, I was not contacted. I called to receive that confirmation. That same front desk staff were there, again friendly enough, and got my order without delay. I will not return to any NationWide vision in the future and my next script update will have to happen at one of the many alternatives.
