  • Several months ago I booked an appointment based on all the good reviews on Yelp. I needed to have my Jeep diagnosed and fixed. They came back with an estimate close to $500. Based on some pre-sleuth work - connecting it to a computer to detect the likely problem and then getting an idea on pricing - I felt like that was high so told them "no thanks". (I Needed to replace an oxygen sensor). They tried to charge me $100 or $150 (I can't remember now!) for the diagnose fee. They never told me about the fee upfront or I wouldn't have even brought it there in the first place. My jeep was seen by them for MAYBE 10 minutes. $100, what are they surgeons? I negotiated paying 1/2 the fee, found out that I didn't have to pay it at all b/c we didn't have so much as a verbal contract (too late now - doh!). So I found another shop to fix my Jeep. However, right after I said "no thanks" they took another 10 minutes with my Jeep. After I got back my Jeep from them, from that moment on all the sudden my Jeep was using gas like crazy, I was going through a 1/2 tank within 30 minutes and the engine sounded very bad like it was working extra hard and loud. Within a few more months I found a "slow" drip radiator leak. I'm not sure if they messed up my Jeep on purpose or not, but it drove very differently afterwards but thankfully another shop was able to repair it a few days later for only $200. My advice to others: If you are having car problems, shop it out, go see O'Reiley's, Auto Zone, or another car parts place first to get an idea of what the problem might be, then call around to get an idea of what kind of prices you might be looking at so you don't get ripped off.
