Full disclosure: I am in no way a lingerie connoisseur. I've never been the frilly-lace type. And I'm pretty sure my last fitting was of the department-store variety.
But seeing as life - and my body - have changed quite a bit, I figured a proper fitting, at a specialty shop, was in order. In late February, I made an appointment to come to Melmira, after a friend recommended it a while back.
It was definitely worth the trip. The establishment itself was nice, and the fitting rooms were (1) private and (2) actually big enough for myself and my fitter, who was very nice, and extremely helpful. She pointed out how to ensure my bras fit properly, etc.
I also learned that somehow (through the magic of all those late nights of eating?) that I was actually a size BIGGER than I thought I was. (And here I thought my bras had shrunk through shoddy care and washing. Huh.)
They've got all sorts of brands, colours, detailing ... It was actually hard deciding which bras NOT to buy. Yes, I liked the lacy ones, too - surprise! And as others have mentioned, there was no talk of price - or even price-tags! - until I reached the register.
All told, I blew a wad on bras - MUCH more than I expected. But I think in the end, it's worth every single penny.
