  • It was finally time for the two of us to consolidate households and move into a new home. We were moving from two houses in two different cities, one with stairs and one without, to a home with lots of stairs. The temptation to rent a truck and recruit fiends got quickly squashed down by the friends who did not want to lug heavy stuff up and down stairs, so we turned to our YELP advisors. We did a bunch of YELP research and called for quotes and availability everywhere. We got quotes from Barry on both the hourly and the flat rate. We opted to go with the per hour so that we would not chance going over our box amount (which we did by far) or our furniture amount (which we did by a few pieces). Young Strong Movers were licensed and Insured and yet still more reasonable than than the non-insured. Peace of mind with all of our belongings and valuables, made us decide to use YSM. Our three movers showed up just a few minutes late with only a 20 minute rather than an hour advance notice call. It was all good, we were already there for them. They pulled up the big truck (their own business truck), and came in to check it all out. We directed them on everything that had to go (some things remained behind, and we wanted no confusion). They did not start the clock until they actually started working. It was about an hour at the first house and the guys packed the truck very efficiently to maximize space for the second home. We moved on to house number two and again gave them directions to all the stuff. They were able to get 90% of the stuff before the truck was full. We were cool with that, since they got all the key big items that we would not be able to move on our own. *** Our tip, make sure you tell them how much stuff you have or at least call and update them the day or two before you move about how much you have. They will bring the right size truck for you. Because we had been debating the fixed rate, the assumption was still that we had 14 pieces of furniture and 70 boxes, which we underestimated. On the unloading end, our most challenging part, there were stairs. One flight to the main level of the house. More to the basement and more to the upstairs. Several big pieces needed to climb at least one set of stairs while one of the pieces had to go up and then down the narrow stairs into the basement. This piece was HEAVY and awkward and it nearly killed these guys, but made it without a scratch. Impressive!!! All three guys took such care to make sure that all of the appropriate items were moved, things were packed neatly and protected, and care was taken at all times to keep our stuff safe and intact. We left furniture behind at our houses for staging and may end up calling them back to help us move it when the time comes. The guys are awesome and Barry in the office is wonderful at advising you and answering questions. I hate to spend money for things that can be done on our own, but I think this money was very well spent and I would recommend these guys in a second. If you have anything very valuable and heavy and are not sure if you want someone else moving it, just know you can trust these guys!!!!!!!!!!
