  • With over a dozen pairs in my closet I am a huge fan of Allen-Edmonds shoes. They are classic, traditional, American-made shoes that are always appropriate in work or casual situations. Yes, they may be more expensive than other shoes that you can find, but the biggest reasons I stick to this brand is because of their recrafting program. I know that you can get your dress shoes resoled at a lot of places, but bringing them to Allen-Edmonds means that they will be sent back to the factory in Port Washington, Wisconsin and not only resoled, but actually rebuilt. Not only do they replace the soles and the heels, they replace the cork footbed, the leather insole, and completely strip and refinish the uppers. You don't just get a new sole, you basically get a new shoe! And considering that several of my Allen-Edmonds shoes are already nearly 20-years old, I expect that after the recrafting they will last another 20-years or so. Also, the staff is very friendly and happy to talk shoes or sports while you are browsing. Definitely a great place to go and a great company to support!
