I am an RN with over 30 years of critical care experience. My sister has been here for three days. The nurses here have no concept of what nursing care means. They are arrogant, (this morning, she had to tell me that she was a float, and was really a critical care nurse) and I needed to know this why?
Basic nursing care.....turning your patient regularly, making sure they can feed themselves, helping set-up their tray, if they are an aspiration risk that they are positioned correctly. This isn't rocket science. But these nurses at this hospital have a significant deficit when it comes to taking care of the "whole" patient. If your patient is a renal patient, might like to be aware of their basic creatinine and BUN labs.
If you have family in here do not leave them alone for long stretches of time. If you do they may not get fed or their pain management neglected. Scary place.
I gave one star because I had to.
