A few months ago, I decided to get my car re-tinted a darker shade. It previously had a flawless tint job from the BMW dealership...just not dark enough to keep the heat out. I made the mistake of letting Blackjack talk me into letting them strip & re-tint my car for $200.
After I got my car back the first time, there were bubbles galore from slamming it out & not cleaning the windows correctly. They claimed it was a windy day so dust may have gotten on the tint. Well, whatever...it looked like crap. Also the glare strip on the front was cut crooked...off by 3/4 of an inch from left to right. The tint on the doors at the top weren't cut uniformly...like they were cut with a butter knife. I know that wasn't the case though as the installer managed to leave a razor blade on my leather driver's seat which I sat on & didn't see until the next morning.
I took it back & the owner said he'd fix it...well, not him personally but his installer. I gave them the car, they cut a new glare strip & attempted to get rid of the bubbles. This time, he managed to scratch the tint on the rear glass. He said it wasn't the tint but a scratch on the glass...wrong. I swear, there were even more bubbles the second time around
I took my car over to Mike at Eco Tint & he said they wouldn't even do that poor of a job on a beater Hyundai. He told me he could strip it all & guarantee no bubbles on the re-tint. I went back to Blackjack & asked for a partial refund since I decided to go back to a place that had taken care of me properly in the past. The owner said he can't issue any refund, but they would make it right. I asked him if he would tint it personally & was told that he doesn't tint windows but has faith in his installer to do a good job.
Long story short, I gave it back to Blackjack 2 more times, they left another razor blade in my car (this time on the floor of the backseat where my passenger in flip flops found it) & I still have bubbles/scratches but and not going to keep taking it back for the same results.
The owner is a nice guy but should have given a partial refund or full refund considering they did an awful job on the 4 times they had the opportunity to correct it. He needs to hire someone that is competent of doing the job correctly the 1st time around. The install bay isn't lit very well & this may account for the inability to see imperfections. The installer is a knucklehead & quality isn't his main objective...speed is & it shows in the finished product.
I will have to go to Eco Tint to make this right when I can fit it in my schedule.
