| - This is my new favorite grocery store. Although the prices aren't always as low as Cardenas', where I usually go to get my produce, I do like some of the pricing I see here. One time they had organic apples on sale for $.48 a pound. Since I juice, I need a lot of produce every week and I can't go to Vons, Albertson's or Smith's because I can't afford to juice.
One thing I do like better at Cárdenas is that they seem to have a better selection of leafy greens. But sprouts has a great selection of pears, apples, and vegetables, and I like that their cucumbers aren't always the little teeny ones you get elsewhere.
The other thing I like about Sprouts is that they cater to people who are really into health, like the raw foodists, vegans and vegetarian. That means I can find raw plant protein powder there and raw nuts. Without being shunted off to some little specialized corner of the store. They also have some good health-related magazines, I noticed - I might pick some up next time I'm there.
So the store is sort of like an affordable Whole Foods/Trader Joe's mix. The staff are always friendly, the place always seems to be clean and organized, and I haven't had a hard time finding anybody working there if I have a question. And maybe I'm just lucky, but I have never been there when there's been insufficient people working the registers- unlike Cárdenas, where it seems it can take a 20 minutes before you reach the cashier.
