The event at FL 2, I attended the other night was well planned but some things didn't work out the way I had hoped. Upon entry we were given two drink tickets and asked to sit in tables not far from the bar area.
The drink tickets were for a pineapple daiquiri and a sangria over fruit. I had waited at a booth for some time while chatting with friends waiting for the event to begin. Rachel introduced us to both the manager and chef.
Since we were near the bar area I had difficulty hearing these people give their talks and wasn't certain what we would be sampling.
I later learned that we would be sampling 5 different types of chef prepared foods. Menus were given to each table and some people from the booth I was sitting at ordered from it.
We were called up by tables to get our samples. Since I was in a large booth I decided to cash in my two drink tickets at the same time to avoid having to disrupt the others at my table. I did not get the chance to sample everything but the things I did were indeed very good. I liked the pork belly the best as well as the chickpea one.
My drinks were okay. I liked the way that they placed the fruit in the bottom of the sangria. That fruit looked good enough to eat.
FL 2 formerly known as "Habitat" occupies the 2nd floor of the Fairmont hotel in downtown Pittsburgh. It is extremely noisy around the bar area so it can be difficult to hear a conversation. I'm used to this type of noise since I have been at other establishments that have given me the same problem.
I was glad to share in some of the foods we purchased on our own. They were very good. Please note that food is pricey but you would expect that at a hotel establishment. They also offer validated parking with a discount if you provide them with your ticket.
In spite of some "hiccups" as I call them that occurred over the night I really feel this place is worth a visit and I truly want to thank both the Yelp team and the staff that was there for all the hard work they put into making this event a success.
