  • After years of neglecting key aspects of my health, the time had come to pay the piper. I take full responsibility for it, and have no one else to blame but myself. I used to brag when I was in college that I rarely needed sleep. In fact, it was great because I could go for days requiring little to no sleep, except for the occasional naps. When my career took off, I could pretty much outwork most everyone else. I always tell people that I have two internal alarm clocks. One at 6AM, and one at 11PM. I exercise, and I eat right, am very active and play a lot of sports. But the "at rest" portion of my life takes a back seat to everything else. I am so driven to achieve and solve that I didn't realize what I was doing to myself. So, when the headaches became so excruciatingly painful to the point of being debilitating; I sought out what I thought was the best conglomeration of Neurological Talent in the Valley. For years, I always heard that BNI was at the leading edge of Neurological study in the nation. Money was not an issue, and I wasn't concerned about the bill. My health insurance is at the Platinum level, and my monthly premiums are in the 4-figures. After having spent months working with and getting passed along unresponsive doctors, the best response that I got was that there is nothing that can be done at the moment and we will get back to you. In the meantime, here are some pills, and let us know if they don't work. Don't bother calling them, because they have a 48-72 hour call back response rate; and you may be fortunate if your specialist or any specialist calls you back in that amount of time. At one point, my return calls were relegated to a two-week response time, until my doctor left the practice. Then, I had to wait to be re-introduced to another specialist. Okay, I get it and do understand that you are all busy. I should know. I have grew up in a medical family wherein half of my family was in the medical field (specialist doctor / nurse / etc.). I just could not understand why the response times, and patient care were so dreadfully lacking and unresponsive. And from reading other's reviews, it appears that I am not alone in my experience. It has taken me over a year to finally find a specialist within this practice that gave me hope. Panacea for the pain, if not the primary malady - which they can't do anything about at the present time. I missed one appointment with this particular doctor, and they had scheduled my return trip for 2 months down the road. Good thing that I have a high degree of tolerance for pain. (That was a joke. Humor to provide levity for my particular situation). In any case, I would caution you to fully investigate your options before deciding on this particular practice. You don't want to go through what I have had to endure, and not receive the prompt and attentive treatment that you need and deserve - irrespective of your financial situation.
