| - Deserving of 5 stars.
Xian worked her magic on my hair. She is knowledgeable and eager to explain procedures.
So why the 3/5?
The owner.
Her 'entrance' into the salon was quite theatrical thus mildly entertaining yet undeniably irritating. Missy immediately turned on the screens that streamed models on the catwalk. While washing her client's hair, Missy could not take her eyes off the screen. It's as if she was in a trance...Zombie apocalypse.
Yes, I have more years of life experience, and I rarely give negative reviews but it was necessary.
DEAR OWNER
GET OVER YOURSELF ALREADY
1. Focus on your clients. Engage in conversation. Toastmasters helps people develop confidence speaking in public.
2. Greet ALL your customers. A smile, "Good morning", or if that is too taxing, a hello will suffice.
3.If the television is not running when you arrive, leave it off especially if other clients are talking with other stylists.
4. Ever considered music? Relaxing music. Check with Jocelyn at the chiropractor's office next door. She offers the Loschne 'chiropractic' type facials.
5.Offer to take Jocelyn out for lunch. Like you, she owns her own business. Unlike you, she communicated a genuine warmth, and concern for my comfort.
6.Have a coffee or tea station set up to allow clients to help themselves.
I admire your courage to own and operate a small business, especially considering your age...mid 20s/30ish especially considering the economic challenges facing Calgarians.
Please accept my review as an opportunity to thrive.
Lastly, show more respect to Xian. You barely acknowledged her. Customers love to spend time in salons where the staff are relaxed, jovial and most of all, kind.
Best regards.
Marie
