  • The Hard Rock Hotel is simply awesome. HRH (Her Rocking Highness?) has added two towers in the last few years, and I recently stayed at the Paradise Tower. To get to the Paradise, umm, take a right at Quadrophenia/Pink Taco, past John Varvatos and Affliction, past the Starbucks that isn't an "official" Starbucks but has the sweetest Baristas ever, past the convenience store where you should stock up on Vitamin Water XXX and Advil (They also have single bottles of microbrews, tweezers, and anything else your hard rock stay might call for), once you pass the B/W photos of the Rolling Stones at their freakin' peak in the '70's, you'll see a huge mural of a forgotten Elton John album nobody but the editors of Rolling Stone care about. Take a left there at the album that is not Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road. Phew. Wait, you're not done. Keep walking past the doors to the Hard Rock's most awesome pools, 3-4 separate pools, two with natural sand floors, one elevated private pool with windows on the bottom that overlook a bar, all stocked with hotties that probably make Sundays Rehab-x THE place to be in Vegas. Walk past the deli on your right that is good for Illy coffee and crepes in the morning, then at the oversized photos of classic rock albums such as Peter Gabriel (I), an original print of Dark Side of the Moon, take a right. Yes, the Paradise Tower is THAT freakin' far from the front desk! At least during that walk and your stay, they are constantly cranking the rock and roll through the intercom. You are never far from the rock, here. The road is long, but the rooms are awesome. The most comfortable King sized bed on the planet awaits you. A huge plasma screen TV, a fridge stocked with alcohol and more Vitamin Water (probably 3x as much as the convenience store), glass-mirrored table tops, charcoal colored decor touches everywhere, a bathroom light that is programmed to SLOWLY turn on so as to not shock your hangover...that was hilarious! It's so slow! And for $69 on a weekday plus a small resort fee...you've got the best kept secret off of the Strip. No matter what you do, do not eat at Pink Taco during peak drunk times. I once almost dumped an ice cream sundae over some douchebag's head there. All in the name of valor. The food is not worth the drunks. DO, however, eat at Nobu and the nice but casual Italian LTO (formerly AGO). The HRH Casino isn't that great. But the atmosphere is. The Hard Rock trends towards a younger crowd than most of Vegas, and for that, it's worth a visit even if you're staying on the Strip. The Strip is a short cab ride away, and staying at the Hard Rock is really worth it. You're worth it!
