The actual experience of kayaking at Lake LV was pleasant. It was a hot yet windy summer day when my bf and I came out for a 2 hour adventure. My experience with the owner/employees on the other hand left a bad impression.
When I called to make the reservation for a double kayak it seemed that getting my credit card number was more important than sharing other information with me. When we arrived at check in I was told that I had only paid for myself not my passenger and that was extra. When I offered him my credit card to pay for my passenger he said that was ok. You think that when I ordered a double that it was for TWO passengers and I should have been charged accordingly at that time.
I reserved a double at least a week before the day and we were told that they didn't have any doubles so we were given a triple... Um, really-- for first time riders? Not the best option. This thing was huge and bulky. The kayak was very uncomfortable. The seat offered no support. It was not what I reserved so its obviously not what I wanted.
We were given maybe a 30 second "safety" lesson. When I asked if we needed to only go in one direction on the lake, I was laughed at. When I asked what is the safest way to get in the kayak from the dock, I was told, "You just get in."
We were not offered lifejackets and the bf had to get back out of the kayak to go get them.
We made our way around the lake even with the challenge of the wind. The sights were very pretty and it was a peaceful 2 hours out and back in.
When we returned we were greeted by a different employee and when I asked what is the safest way to get out of the kayak I was told, "However you can so you don't fall in the water."
There are other places to kayak and get a lot better treatment that I wish LV SUP Kayak Club well, but I won't be returning.
