  • So my sisters and I saw them advertise this event on Facebook. We were so excited about traveling to Savannah to enjoy what we thought would be some juicy, succulent crabs. We purchased our tickets back in February and booked our hotel. The event was on July 23, 2016 at Lake Mayer in Savannah, GA. We packed up our bags and traveled 4 hours to Savannah from Atlanta. The event was said to be sold out and we were encouraged to bring our own chairs. Now this leads me to believe that this is a publicity stunt forcing people to quickly buy tickets. Why else would you need extra chairs for a "sold out" event? Once we got to the booth they check our ID and had you sign by your name. They then give you a wristband and one ticket for a side of fish and fries. It seemed official but that was far from the case. From the moment we got to the crabs (which reminded me of a freaking family picnic because it was served under tents) I was highly and deeply disappointed. The crabs looked sick and measly. Also, let me mention that no utensils were provided; no mallets, knives forks, nothing. They also didn't provide napkins or wet wipes or condiments. Imagine eating seafood without napkins or wipes!? So, I cracked open the crab and OH MY GOSH it was vile!! Let me see if I can describe what I saw: gray, mushy lungs and heart, murky, creamy liquid, and very little edible crab meat. I truly felt like we got swamp crabs pissed on by gators! One of my sisters said she tasted ammonia! After picking through piles of internal gunk and rendering no viable crab meat, I decided to get my side of fish and fries. I waited in the sweltering sun for ten plus minutes for over fried fish! It was seasoned well but very hard. The fries were tasty though. Sadly, we finally realized we spent $27+ on fish and chips because the crabs were a joke. $27, a Four hour drive, a $160 hotel, gas and intense heat for some fish and chips. This event is a ripoff! They get you on the idea of all you can eat crabs; however, the crabs are terrible and you can't even bring drinks. They force you to buy cheap cans of soda or bottled water for $2. Of course, I'm not stupid. I know all you can eat for that kind of price isn't going to be top notch, but come on I expected to actually eat some crab meat. What we got was mush, over fried fish, and frustration. Please do NOT waste your $$$$ or time. If you do decide to visit Savannah, try The Juicy Seafood! Phenomenal!! It made up for our horrible experience with The South East Crab (crap) Fest.
