| - Excellent, excellent, excellent. Joe's BBQ gets it right. The menu options are classic- smoked brisket, chicken breast, pulled pork, ham, sausage, and turkey. The sides include mac n' cheese, baked beans, potato salad, cheesy potatoes, and fries. You can select from sandwiches or plates with your choice of 1 or 2 meats. Trust me, the food is delicious. Folks come from all over the valley to eat at Joe's. There are 2 types of BBQ sauce: regular (sweeter) and spicy. Both are delicious, it's worth trying them. There's also a relish stand to grab whatever you'd like to compliment your food.
The setup is what you'd expect from a BBQ restaurant- open seating (indoors and out, with a pretty nice setup for outdoor dining when the weather cools down), cafeteria-style ordering, and a country feel to the establishment. Expect to wait during the busier times (weekends, lunches, holidays) as this place can get pretty popular. If you don't want to wait, there's a take-out order window on the side of the building- call ahead to place your order and swing by to pay for and pick-up your food. It's a very customer friendly service.
The service is good, not great. The restaurant is clean every time I've been there- plenty of booths or tables to choose from inside. Joe is a pretty established restauranteur in the Gilbert area (Farm Grill, Liberty Market Cafe, etc.) so he knows what patrons like and seems to attract good crowds. Joe's is no exception- it's great for families and kids. The food is very, very well done- but a bit pricey- be prepared to pay at least $10-12 per adult but the portions are pretty big.
