  • Don't waste your time! As a mcm enthusiast, I had many people tell me to check out Red. Unfortunately, I did. I walked around the store and saw "Do not sit" signs everywhere. My wife and son ran across the street to pick up some chocolate as I browsed. I went upstairs and walked around, without anyone saying a word to me. After seeing the entire store, my wife and 3 year old son came back and I wanted to show her around. As we went upstairs, a worker quickly followed us up and stood in the corner on his phone, just watching us. As we were nearing the stairs to head back down, my son tried to open a drawer one of the desks. The worker looks over and says to my son "Just leave it there!" My wife quickly says, "He is opening the drawer, it's ok" The worker responds "It was just refinished, I don't want the drawer opened." I would understand the guy getting upset if my son was climbing on furniture and slamming drawers. This was not the case. I politely asked the man why customer weren't allowed to touch or sit on anything. He said that the pieces were very unique and expensive. I told him I understood that, but that I had also been to Design Within Reach (the real place to buy MCM furniture) and that they welcomed customers and encouraged them to sit and browse. He then got very defensive and told me that this wasn't the store for me, and that I ought to just leave. So we did, but not after putting all the things back that we had intended to buy. I'll stick with DWR, Red sucks and so do its employees.
