CLT is a pretty standard run of the mill airport with some of the concourses having better options than others when it comes to food choices. CLT is a major hub for American Airlines, so you're likely to find better choices for food outside of concourse A which is used for all other airlines. All of the concourses have adequate seating and the interconnecting hallways have rocking chairs for your leisure. I agree with the other reviews about the weirdness that are bathroom attendants. I think I can tend to my hygiene independently, thanks.
The parking situation has much improved since the short term garage was opened. This garage directly faces the airport and is shared with the rental car counters/parking. If you are driving to the airport, the signage can be confusing so hang out in the left most lane to find the entrance to the garage. Construction is still ongoing so there is a tent that connects the garage to the airport awning. Parking in short term is free for the first half hour, which is great if you need to meet someone at baggage claim. There are also four long term lots with routine bus shuttles outside of baggage claim. My most preferred is long term 1 because it is the closest to the airport. My least preferred is long term 4 because of the poor lighting at night, which makes it difficult to find your car if you have a late returning flight.
