  • Like many others, I found this through Groupon, and it was such a great deal I didn't want to pass it up. I have had mediocre-to-bad experiences in the past with other cleaning services found through deals like that, but I know they can't all be bad, so I was willing to take another chance. Just to explain where I'm coming from, my last experiences with other companeis were that I had to make reservations several days out, during weekdays. The two different cleaners showed up 45- and 90-minutes late because they couldn't find my house. Both of them took 10 minutes getting all their things together, before they were able to get started. They didn't do the things I'd written on my request I really wanted done, and did other things instead (and not that well). So on to this experience with Homejoy: The reservation system was astonishing - it was Friday evening, and there were appointments available Saturday morning! I made a reservation for 3 hours of cleaning on Sunday morning. The assigned cleaner, Justin, was great. He showed up a few minutes before the scheduled time, and came to the door with everything he needed to get started. He knew what I had entered as my priorities during my reservation, and after a quick walk-through and clarification of what I did and didn't want done, he just buckled down and got the job done. Normally I try to arrange to be out of the house because it feels uncomfortable but he put me at ease, and I ended up getting a lot of my own things done while he was there. Also, he didn't mind my dog, which is good because she can be a little intimidating. With the time allotted (and a little extra as he took care of a few more details, after checking to be sure I didn't need him to leave right on time) he made the priority areas spotless, and went above and beyond to be helpful. For instance, he put a shower curtain in the laundry because the bottom of it was grubby, and helped clear a hair clog in the shower. He made sure I was satisfied with the service before he left and asked if there was anything else that needed to be done. He is a great representative of the company, and I will probably have him back again soon!
